OUTREACH!

I am beyond excited, to the point of feeling like I am unable to describe it, to officially announce that I am going to PNG(Papua New Guinea) on outreach on the LF(Lymphatic filariasis, commonly known as elephantiasis, is a neglected tropical disease. Infection occurs when filarial parasites are transmitted to humans through mosquitoes. When a mosquito with infective stage larvae bites a person, the parasites are deposited on the person's skin from where they enter the body. The larvae then migrate to the lymphatic vessels where they develop into adult worms in the human lymphatic system) ) team! We will be logging and handing out a medicine that will heal people of this horrible disease! I am so excited to take my love of medicine and science, and my longing to serve in a third world country and use those passions on this outreach. Details are for now limited, but more will be coming as the weeks get closer. We will be leaving in early May for five weeks in PNG. I am on a team with two staff(Lea and Mel...super super stoked on this) and ten students. As a team of twelve we will head to PNG. We will also have a three week local outreach in April, five hours north of Townsville where we will be working with Harald's House. Check it out! I am super stoked about this as well.

There are three other outreach teams in my school. We have a team headed to New Zealand, a team staying for three weeks in Townsville for a base building blitz/three weeks on the medical ship in PNG, a team going to Darwin, Australia and than my team! Rumor has it that 24 people had the LF PNG team as a first choice, so I feel extremely blessed to be one of ten on that team!

I will hopefully be giving you much better details soon as we figure out budgets, needs, and details of exactly what we will be doing. But for now I would love to at least put a face to the team that I would love to invite you to pray for! For now, pray for money for the team to be fully financed, planning the details of the outreach, and for unity amongst us! We are so excited for our journey, and I will do another post soon about how we found out that we were going to PNG, because it was a night FULL of excitement(screaming, dancing like chickens and hugging each other!) WE ARE STOKED!
